A common challenge for commissioning agents is coordinating the interface between packaged rooftop air handling units (RTUs) and the building automation systems (BAS). This project was provided with internal controllers for the RTUs that would operate the units’ cooling, heating and energy sequences. The BAS would control the units’ life safety features; plus, the design documents were written so that the BAS could monitor and reset points from the internal controller. 

Because of our experience with coordinating these issues on many other projects, FD communicated with the design engineers and contractor through design, submittal review, installation and ultimately start-up and functional testing to assure that the two controllers were interfaced in accordance with the design documents and Owners Project Requirements (OPR).
