Music City Center

Music City Center – Nashville, Tennessee

The LEED Gold certified convention center was designed with multiple large AHUs serving the main exhibit hall, with a control sequence to control supply fans to a duct static setpoint.  During the commissioning process, FD made recommendations for modifications of the controls which reduced energy consumption and costs for the Owner with no cost increase.  Due to the oversizing of the ductwork for noise considerations, the fans were constantly operating at 100% speed with an inability to meet even the minimal duct static setpoint.  FD recommended that the fans control to a set supply CFM, as supply CFM was already measured by calibrated airflow stations on each AHU.  This modification resulted in the supply fans operating at a much lower speed, saving fan electrical energy.
